One of the first truths lost in exile was not doctrine, language, or land—it was time.
Yehovah does not follow man’s calendar.
He establishes His own appointed times, and Scripture is explicit: those who honor His time are identified as His people.
This is not religion.
This is covenant order.
The Sabbath Has an Actual Day
The Sabbath is not symbolic.
It is not flexible.
It is not spiritualized away.
Scripture defines it clearly.
“The seventh day is the Sabbath of Yehovah thy God.”
— Exodus 20:10
The Sabbath is the seventh day, not the first.
Biblically, a day begins at sunset, not midnight.
“And the evening and the morning were the first day.”
— Genesis 1:5
Therefore, the Sabbath runs from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset.
This was:
- Established at creation
- Kept by Israel
- Observed by Yeshua
- Never changed in Scripture
The Sabbath Was Set Apart at Creation
Before there was sin…
Before there was Israel…
Before Sinai…
Yehovah sanctified time.
“And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it.”
— Genesis 2:3
The Sabbath is not Jewish tradition.
It is creation order.
The Sabbath Is a Sign of Covenant Identity
Yehovah defines the Sabbath as a sign, not a burden.
“Surely My Sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am Yehovah that sanctifies you.”
— Exodus 31:13
The Sabbath identifies:
- Who your God is
- Whose authority you acknowledge
- Which kingdom you belong to
It is a weekly declaration of allegiance.
Yeshua Kept the Sabbath
Yeshua did not redefine the Sabbath—He restored it.
“And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day.”
— Luke 4:16
He corrected man-made restrictions, not the command itself.
“The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.”
— Mark 2:27
Made for man.
Not abolished.
Not transferred.
Not replaced.
Yehovah’s Moedim: His Appointed Times
In addition to the weekly Sabbath, Yehovah established appointed times, called moedim.
“These are the feasts of Yehovah, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons.”
— Leviticus 23:4
Moedim means:
- Appointed times
- Set meetings
- Divine rehearsals
These are Yehovah’s feasts, not Israel’s.
The Weekly Sabbath Is the First Moed
Leviticus 23 begins not with Passover—but with the Sabbath.
“Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the Sabbath of rest, an holy convocation.”
— Leviticus 23:3
This shows the Sabbath is:
- Part of the moedim
- A weekly appointment
- A recurring holy convocation
Yehovah meets with His people in His time, not ours.
The Moedim Reveal Redemption
Each moed points to Yeshua:
- Passover — redemption
- Unleavened Bread — sanctification
- Firstfruits — resurrection
- Shavuot — giving of Torah and Spirit
- Trumpets — awakening
- Atonement — judgment
- Tabernacles — dwelling with God
These are not abolished shadows—they are prophetic rehearsals.
God’s People in the Last Days
Scripture defines end-time believers clearly.
“Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Yeshua.”
— Revelation 14:12
Faith and obedience are not opposites.
They are covenant partners.
Why God’s Time Was Attacked
Scripture warned that God’s calendar would be targeted.
“He shall think to change times and laws.”
— Daniel 7:25
Changing God’s time:
- Weakens covenant identity
- Replaces divine authority with tradition
- Disconnects people from creation order
If you control time, you control worship.
Rest Is an Act of Trust
Keeping the Sabbath is not about earning favor.
It is about trust.
To stop when the world runs is to say:
- Yehovah is my provider
- My life is not driven by endless labor
- I live by His rhythm
The Sabbath trains the heart to rest in Him.
Gospel Basics Means Returning to God’s Order
The gospel restores what was lost:
- God’s people
- God’s Name
- God’s time
Those who guard His Sabbaths
and honor His appointed times
are stepping back into covenant alignment.
“Blessed is the man… that keeps the Sabbath.”
— Isaiah 56:2
This is not going backward.
This is going home.
